Diaspora groups hail Oye’s victory as new APGA chairman

While commending the Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano for the peaceful conduct of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) national convention held recently in Awka, Anambra State, members of the party living in the United Kingdom and South Africa respectively have congratulated the National chairman elect, Dr. Victor K. Oye and the General Secretary Labaran Maku for their victories.
In a statement jointly signed by the diaspora group representatives, Engr. Henry Onyekumnaru.

Chairman, APGA South Africa chapter and Ezenwa Anazodo , Publicity Secretary, APGA United Kingdom respectively said that the peaceful conduction of the convention and transition of office witnessed by Nigerians and across the boarder have brokered the prospect that lies ahead of the party in political field of Nigeria.
“As APGA in diaspora and with the mission to help build a party of intellectuals, a party that focuses in supporting our national Party in Nigeria to continue the excellent work already on the way for a modern progressive APGA based on fairness, respect, decency and openness.
“ APGA UK and South Africa will support the new leadership. We extend our congratulations to all executive members elected in the Party ranging from State to National.
“APGA UK and South Africa have also observed critically the wonderful performances, excellent and tactical leadership style of Governor Willie Obiano. The man who turned Anambra around within days and months of assuming office. The entire Nigeria in diaspora especially in the United Kingdom has come to understand that they are still people in power who put their citizens first.
“APGA leadership under Obiano has witnessed a tremendous growth with strong roots spanning in different state of Nigeria. People’s perception about APGA has been shifted from regional party to national and soon a vibrant next opposition party in Nigeria.
“APGA recorded victory in many state at the just concluded general election. Enough can’t be said about this performing Governor”, the group said in the statement.
Similarly, the group further commended Obiano for his outstanding record in the just concluded general election where APGA swept the state assembly seats in Anambra State.
“We will not make the mistake of not thanking in a special way the men and women that fought doggedly and selflessly for APGA.
APGA today may have been in merger which made APC but today we still have APGA to celebrate our identity”, the statement added.
