Florida man who met minor through app claims he was tricked

And you thought your dating app stories were bad.

A Florida man, who DJs and supplies bounce houses at children’s parties, was arrested Tuesday for allegedly soliciting a boy for sex through an app — but the man claims he was tricked and had no idea he was talking to a minor.

Christopher Pintek, 41, started chatting with the boy last month through a hookup app for gay men, the West Volusia Beacon reported.



Both of them had lied about their ages — Pintek said he was 25, and the boy said he was 18. Pintek used the name “TIM YOUNG ONLY” for his account, and his profile said he would pay $100 for sex acts with “young teens.”

After they started talking, the boy took the case to police, who started posing as him through the app.

Pintek arranged for them to meet at a park, but police were waiting for him when he arrived. He was arrested and charged with using a computer to solicit a minor and traveling to solicit a minor.

Pintek told police he believed the boy to be a partner of legal age — not just because the boy said so, but because the app is supposed to be for users 18 and older.

“I would not go and meet up with a 14-year-old, OK?” he told WESH. “I’m not attracted to children at all. I deal with a lot of kids and never, never was attracted to children.”

An undercover agent, writing as the boy, did at one point tell Pintek he is 14. The DJ didn’t acknowledge that comment, and replied: “You are hot. I am down if (you) want to meet up.”

Pintek now says he ignored the remark because he assumed it was a joke.

“I didn't believe that because of the profile and the picture. I'm like, he must be kidding around,” he said.

Pintek runs Surround Sound DJ & Party Bounces, a Palm Beach-based business providing parties for birthdays, school functions, graduations and weddings.
