Ogun Police warn officers against bribery, corruption

Ogun State Police command has warned its officers against bribery and any other corrupt practices, saying, that a website created by the Inspector General of Police was meant for complaints against any erring police officer.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Muyiwa Adejobi stated this, yesterday, during the promotional training of 953 officers who are undergoing training that will usher them from the rank of corporal to the rank of a sergeant.

The training took place at the Police College in Iperu area of Ogun State.
Adejobi said the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase has zero tolerance for bribery and corruption within the police force across the country adding that he has created a website where police shortcomings can be reported.
Adejobi who described policing as the first profession quoting ‘Genesis 2 verse 15 of the holy bible’ charged other officers to be decent even while discharging their duties.
He also advised the officers to be good ambassadors of the police force, saying the inspector general will not condole any act of bribery.
His words; ”As officers of the Nigeria police, please be decent, you just have to. The authority has been planning on how to improve the welfare packages; meanwhile you must be good ambassadors of the police because the Inspector General of police will not take it lightly with anyone who is caught in the act of collecting bribes or indulging in any other form of corruption.
“You should not be intoxicated with the power vested upon you by the constitution even while discharging your duties.
“The Inspector General of Police has created a WEBSITE where the public can report the excesses or shortcomings of the police and that department is headed by an Assistant Commissioner of Police.
