Ugwuanyi gets judicial workers to call off strike

The strike embarked upon by the Enugu State Judiciary Staff Union for six months now has been called off.
Speaking to Enugu State Government House Correspondents, after the leadership of the union’s four hours discussion with Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi at the Government House, Enugu, the Chairman of the union, Mr. Chinedu Mba called on all members to resume work tomorrow, today, July 9, 2015.

In his words:“The strike action embarked by the Judiciary Staff Union, Enugu State, is hereby suspended. I am calling on workers to resume work immediately.”
The chairman said that after having discussion with the governor for the past four hours on the way forward to resolve the issue between the state government and the judiciary, they successfully achieved their aim.
He noted that the governor had agreed to abide by the terms of agreement earlier signed by the immediate past administration and the union and the governor promised that “when the economy improves, he would pay us the Consolidated Judiciary salary Structure, CONDUS.”
He added that the union would have another meeting with the governor in December.
He noted that after the meeting with the governor, they conferred with the National President of the Union, who directed that the strike should be suspended immediately. He therefore emphasized that the strike embarked upon by the judiciary staff Union of Enugu State “is hereby suspended.”
