Employee of the U.S. Embassy in Pakistan’s capital city, though a motive for the attack is still unclear, police said.
The dead employee, Iqbal Baig, worked for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and was killed early Sunday morning at his home, police said.
The U.S. Embassy did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Baig belonged to a minority Muslim Shiite sect known as the Ismaili. Ismailis largely live in peace in Sunni-dominated Pakistan, though Islamic extremists in the country view Shiites as heretics.
