Two men died and two more were severely injured after a series of separate car crashes that started Saturday night in Queens, officials said.



The collisions began just before 6 p.m when 22-year-old Stephen-John Salmon, zooming down 140th Ave. in Springfield Gardens on a motorcycle, was fatally struck by a Toyota Highlander turning left onto the busy road from Bedell St., police said.

Salmon - who was not wearing a Department of Transportation-approved helmet - was taken to Jamaica Hospital but could not be saved, officials said.

The Toyota's driver stayed at the scene and was not immediately charged.

The condition of the rider of the bike is unknown at this time in the borough of Queens in New York City.
Hours later, a 34-year-old man trying to run across the Long Island Expressway just after 9:45 p.m was killed after he was hit by an SUV driving west near 169th St., cops said.

Around the same time in Far Rockaway, an unidentified 28-year-old man flipped his car after he slammed it into two parked vehicles on Seagirt Blvd. and Beach Sixth St., authorities said. He was rushed to Jamaica Hospital with a head wound and listed in critical condition Saturday night.

Then in Queens Village, a 39-year-old man was hit by a car when he stepped onto Hempstead Ave. midblock near 220th St. around 2 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Emergency responders rushed the man, whose name was not released, to North Shore University Hospital, where he was fighting for his life Sunday morning.
