S.C. man hid stolen steaks in colostomy bag: deputies

A South Carolina man is facing shoplifting charges after allegedly smuggling steaks in his colostomy bag.

David Samuel Hoyt's alleged sickening swipe was tracked down by Spartanburg County deputies after five packages of ribeye steaks, valued at $75,
were reported stolen from a grocery store Tuesday, The Smoking Gun reported.

The 55-year-old initially denied having stolen any meat when questioned by deputies, according to a police report.

Approximately $75 worth of ribeye steak was allegedly smuggled by Hoyt.
But his girlfriend confirmed the Food Lion theft, telling a deputy that her beau had hid the meat in the medical pouch which is typically used to collect human waste.

He was arrested for shoplifting and ordered held on a $2,130 bond — a sum capable of affording roughly 142 packages of the beef.

The steak's condition and exactly how the meat was stuffed into the bag was not revealed in the arrest report.
