Mecca crane crash, Compensation offer to the families of the deceased persons.

The National Council of Muslim Youth Organizations, (NACOMYO), has described the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s offer of compensation to the victims of the recent crane crash in the grand mosque (Masjeed Al Haram) in Makkah as a noteworthy gesture which symbolizes the country’s deepest regret on
the unfortunate, yet Allah-destined incident.
In a statement signed by the National President, Alh. Kamal’ddin Akintunde, the group urged beneficiary-families and the injured pilgrims to ensure judicious utilization of the funds which are in millions, stating that a cautiously feasibility study for investment of the funds will guarantee an enduring economic survival and comfort of bereaved families.
It called on the leadership of National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) and Foreign Affairs Ministry to initiate consultations with the families of the six dead Nigerian pilgrims and the affected persons and monitor their judicious utilization of the funds.
NACOMYO also commended the Emir of Kano, Alh. Muhammadu Sanusi II and Head of the Co-ordination Committee to this year’s hajj for their rapport with the Jeddah based Islamic Development Bank (IDB), resulting into IDB’S investment of 19.5 Billion Naira on educational initiatives which include bilingual education in nine states, building of 30 modern schools of 720 classrooms, 30 ICT laboratories, provision of N1.7 million textbooks and capacity building programme for 1800 teachers among other benefits.
The group however called on various state governments to make good/judicious use of the N700 billion presidential relief packages and ensure that workers welfare is given priority and as being the essence of the funds.
