New president enthrone- NPC

The Nigeria Press Council (NPC) on Wednesday congratulated Malam Garba- Deen Muhammad, on his election as the new President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) in Yenagoa on Aug. 28. Muhammed was elected at the 11th All Nigerian Editors Conference (ANEC) which was concluded at the weekend.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the council’s Executive Secretary, Mr Nnamdi Njemanze, said:“On behalf of the management and
staff of the council, I wish to heartily congratulate you on your election to the exalted position of the president of the Guild of Editors.
“Your election on Aug. 28 no doubt was in recognition of your contributions to the journalism profession as a practicing journalist and manager of reporters. “We are very confident that with your background, particularly, as a respected journalist, you will continue to uphold the noble ideals of the Guild.’’
It also urged the president to preserve the best traditions and standards of journalism practice and defend the right of the press in the country. The statement assured him of the council’s support and partnership in ensuring the well-being of Nigerian journalists and upholding the ethics of the noble profession.
NAN report that Muhammed, who was the former Deputy President, was elected to replace the former President, Mr Femi Adesina, following his appointment as the Special Adviser (Media and Publicity) to President Muhammadu Buhari.
