PDP clears Dickson for Governorship Election

THE chances of Governor Seriake Dickson becoming the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the forthcoming December 5 poll received a major boost following the disqualification of two other
aspirants, Senator Emmanuel Paulker and Chief Ebitikin Diongoli ahead of the party primaries in the state.
The duo of Senator Paulker, representing Bayelsa Central Senatorial District in the Senate and Chief Diongoli, a former local government chairman of the Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Council Area, were reportedly disqualified at the weekend during the screening exercise at the zonal secretariat of the PDP in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
However, Paulker and Dionoli, it was gathered, had filed an appeal before the Appeal Panel of the party, challenging their disqualification.
Although the reasons for their disqualifications remain sketchy, a close source to Paulker and Diongoli said, the order emanated “from Otuoke community.”
The Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Osom Macbere, who confirmed Dickson’s successful screening however, declined comment on the status of Paulker and Diongoli.
