10years old died in crash in NJ

A 10-year-old child was killed and five other children were injured when their minivan collided with a sedan in New Jersey Monday morning, police said.

The van was heading south on Arlington Ave. when it
collided with a Ford Taurus driving east on W. Ninth St. in Plainfield at 7:20 a.m., a Plainfield Police Department spokesman said.

The crash flipped the minivan onto its side in the intersection right outside the Plainfield High School, killing the child, according to officials.

Police said an adult woman was driving the van with six other passengers, including the 10-year-old, all ages 6 to 16. The Ford driver, an adult man, was the only passenger in that car.

A New Jersey State Police helicopter evacuated at least one of the wounded, WABC reported. Everyone involved was taken area hospitals, authorities said.

It was not immediately clear how severe the other injuries were or what caused the collision.

Police were withholding the 10-year-old's name pending family notification.
