One of the hottest gifts of the year might be too hot for its own good.

A hoverboard burst into flames on Thursday, setting a hotel room on fire at the Ritz-Carlton in Lake Oconee, Ga., the Greene County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The two-wheeler was
allegedly left unattended, urging the authorities to put out a public statement on Facebook.

“We are asking that you simply do not leave these type of items unattended,” police said.

The local fire department responded to the fire. No one was reported injured.

The devices have a history of overheating when left plugged in to recharge due to the lack of a fuse — causing trouble across the nation.

In Westchester County, N.Y., a device torched a living room when it caught fire while charging in one of the most recent blazes.

One caught fire Tuesday in a Brooklyn apartment, the first hoverboard-linked blaze in the five boroughs.

Pictures of the damaged Georgia room surfaced a day before new laws to regulate the public use of hoverboards went into effect in California, according to CBS Los Angeles.

Starting Friday, riders in the state are allowed to go no faster than 15 miles per hour, must be at least 16 yearsold and must wear a helmet. They are also prohibited from riding while under the influence.
