Customs impounds N45m contrabands in Lagos

LAGOS—Operatives of the Federal Operations Unit of the Customs Service have impounded a wooden boat with 4,404 bags of 50kg parboiled rice and 3,000 cartons of smuggled poultry with a cumulative Duty Paid Value, DPV, of N44,626,000 in Lagos.
The seizures were made in two separate operations between June, 11 and 12; after the operatives received intelligence report of smugglers activities at the Gbaji Yeke-Badagry waterside.
While inspecting the seizures at the Gbaji Yeke-Badagry waterside, Controller, Federal Operations Unit, Zone ‘A’, Turaki Usman Adamu, said the operations were driven by intelligence which was carefully articulated and discreetly executed.
The Controller commended Lagos Roving Team leader, AC Adamu Mohammed Abubakar, for the gallantry displayed by his team.
