It was last week that a white Montana couple came forward and claimed to be Dolezal’s biological parents.
Larry and Ruthanne Dolezal said they were unable to lie for their daughter when contacted by the Coeur d’Alene Press newspaper in neighboring Idaho about the identity of Dolezal’s birth parents.
They showed off photos of her as a blond teenager and produced her birth certificate, saying she broke ties with them around 2007 when she adopted her African-American identity.
On Friday, Dolezal promised to tell her side of the story at the Monday night NAACP meeting, but she canceled the meeting Sunday, leading some members to question her further.
Dolezal, a professor of African studies at Eastern Washington University, led the local NAACP chapter since the start of the year.
Her Montana parents said their estranged daughter embraced African-American culture at an early age and was a gifted artist.

Dolezal attended the historically black Howard University for graduate studies and has a bi-racial son with her black ex-husband Kevin Moore.
