Georgia parents found dead after responding to call for help

Two Georgia parents who responded to a call for help from someone they knew were fatally shot early Thursday morning, with their young daughter in their car with them, police said.

Anthony Joseph Costner, 24, and his wife Catherine Amanda Costner, 22, were found in a car that was in a ditch with its headlights on in Powder Springs shortly after 2 a.m., WXIA reported. Anthony had been shot multiple times and was dead on the scene, while Catherine had at least one gunshot wound and died in a hospital, police said.

The couple’s 3-year-old daughter was also in the car and was not harmed, police said.

Catherine’s mother told the station her daughter received a call for help in the middle of the night from someone she knew.

“When they went to help these people, for whatever reason, a gun was pulled and my son-in-law and my daughter are now dead,” Cynthia Quinn said.

“Her husband was shot in the face, the head and the hand. She was shot in the stomach, all in front of my granddaughter.”
