2nd term bid, Wada ordered recruitment into Civil service.

Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State has directed the state Head of Service to begin the process of recruiting junior and intermediate staff into the civil service.
The governor, who stated this
in Lokoja when he received the chairman and management team of the state Civil Service Commission, said he remained committed to addressing the challenges of youth unemployment in the state.
Wada, who described the civil service as the engine room of government, said the directive became imperative in view of the fact that middle level and junior officers cadre in the state workforce had become grossly inadequate.
Wada pledged to address some of the challenges of the state workforce and directed that inter-service transfer beyond grade level 12 and the use of higher certificates to secure junior cadre employment be stopped.
He also charged the new leadership of the commission to evolve ideas and strategies that would help in the proper positioning of the civil service in the state.
Earlier, Chairman of the Commission, Ado Shaibu, commended the governor for the prompt priority to workers’ welfare, despite the constraints of funds.
He appealed to the governor to direct all ministries, department and agencies to notify the commission on available vacancies.
He urged the governor to approve enough fund for the commission to enable it produce gazettes, annual reports and embark on computerizsation.
